Anders Bast & The Bast’ards is a Copenhagen-based band led by tenor saxophone player Anders Bast. The group features Thor Madsen on guitar, Tobias Dall Mikkelsen on bass, and Michael Dalgas on drums. They blend funk, jazz, blues, and Latin influences. Their album Through Space & Time showcases original compositions by Bast and was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Thor Madsen’s studio, Mazza Mansion.
Following the success of Through Space & Time, the band released Look Back to Go Ahead in 2022. This album features eight tracks of jazz standards, including “Bye Bye Blackbird” and “Purple Gazelle,” providing fresh takes on classic songs from the jazz songbook. A new album has been recorded and is set for release in the fall of 2024.
The band regularly performs around Denmark, sharing their dynamic and innovative sound with audiences.
It’s an inventive, engaging, creative album that mixes funk, jazz, blues and Latin influences […]. Constantly enjoyable, upbeat and positive.

At the midway point, Thor Madsen’s guitar technique swells and captivates and whilst there are no loose ends here, it’s his sound that I leave this piece clearest in my appreciation.
